Configuring keyboard input methods
Under Keyboard Preferences under Layouts I have English(US) French(Us) and Latvian.
Before upgrading to T12 from T11 from T10 Aramo, the Latvian layout gave approximately correct accents. "Type to Test Settings:" now produces nothing.
Previously I searched and replaced the incorrect characters in my typed documents and could be productive.
I tried removing and reinstalling the layouts and even tried alternative apostrophe keyboard versions but always with no results other than ASCII.

I later tried the above with a live USB Trisquel 12 session. I even tried adding different, more common keyboard layouts to my list. Each keyboard via "Show" changes the key shadings upon actuation but no more. "Type to test" produces no output and most often, both left and right ALT keys retain their original bindings to system, non-language related functions.
When launching the T12 Live USB on older systems that previously could only run T8 and T9 Triskel, the opportunity to select a keyboard prior to testing still exists.
The HP elitebook now has T12 installed, and the screen is now lockable on suspend. Hardware seems to be stopping despite correct internationalization. Can a non-blob solution be made for such issues?
