Would you feel comfortable applying to work with a company whose privacy policy says that they may use your personal data to train their AI?
It seems like there are always privacy issues when it comes to working with tech or internet-based companies. Either they are going to do suspicious things with user data or they want employees to work with Slack or Google products.
I would hesitate to do so. And definitely reject such a job if it required me use my own computers for it. Especially if it requires that win11 malware/bloatware.
But yeah, I also consider it wise to resist feeding surveillance capitalism when possible usually.
The local employment agency refuses to serve me unless I sign up for the regional job database, which the public can view. I'm tired of my personal info being leaked in data breaches and I don't want to sign up. I found out that people cannot even receive unemployment benefits if they don't sign up. This is dystopian.
The economy is a mess. There are basically no jobs available to me except training AI and giving away personal data via survey gigs. I thought I'd sign up for some courses and found out that the school gives student data to the AI/career site Handshake without even telling us. Desperate for work and no one here cares about privacy.
